Molitor Estate is honoured for its long viticulture tradition of at least twelve generations of wine producers. In the latest thirty years the winery established itself as a renowned producer due to its constant quest for excellency in the field of wine production. This was possible only due to devotion of the producer to high quality in both the vineyard and in the cellar – on the one hand – hand-picked harvest and multiple selection of grapes, and on the other hand – gentle pressing of the grapes and natural fermentation. This constitutes the philosophy of our winery, which today belongs to one of the most renowned wineries in Germany.
The majority of vineyards are situated on the steep slopes with some slopes reaching the 80 % gradient. Slate soils are perfect for Riesling wines, allow the production of wines rich on minerality and possessing a distinguishable acidity.
Cultivation of the best wine growing locations of the Moselle Valley lying in Piesport Goldtröpfchen and Wintrich Ohligsberg contributes to the fineness of our wines. Molitor Rosenkreuz Estate, acquired in the year 1995 in Minheim near Piesport, owns today 5 hectares of vineyards. In the Piesport Goldtröpfchen location the winery cultivates the vineyards with vines’ age of more than seventy years. Wines from Piesport Goldtröpfchen are gorgeously elegant, possess tremendous power and delicacy at once. Our best dry wines come from Wintrich Ohligsberg. In this wine location we own the parcels with the vines’ age of fifty up to one hundred years. Since the 19. century the Wintrich Ohligsberg belongs to the highly qualified wine arears where we produce our Grand Cru wines – the best dry riesling wines. The wines coming from the Wintrich Ohligsberg are full-bodied, possess feligree delicacy and unique balance of ripeness and refreshing acidity.
